Searchers find body of Victoria Kong, elderly woman who went missing after flight to D.C.
(CBS/AP) ARLINGTON, Va. - Searchers looking for an 83-year-old woman who went missing after arriving at a Wash., D.C airport from Barbados have found her body near the airport.
U.S. Park Police spokesman Paul Brooks said in an email Monday afternoon that the body of Victoria Kong was found about 2 p.m. by a team with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police.
Brooks said Kong's body was found north of Reagan National Airport, about 30 feet from a bike trail in a wooded area.
Kong was last seen Friday evening leaving the airport on foot.
Kong's family says they were waiting for her to be escorted off the flight by wheelchair, but she never showed up. Granddaughter Alexandria Anderson says Kong had been showing some early signs of dementia, CBS DC reports.
Park Police said said the investigation into the death is continuing.
