Scott Thorson Arrested: Man who claims to be Liberace's ex-lover violates parole by failing drug test, report says
(CBS) RENO, Nev. - Scott Thorson, the man who claims to be the ex-lover of Liberace, was arrested Thursday in Nevada after violating the terms of his probation by failing a drug test, the Reno Gazette Journal reports.
Thorson pleaded guilty to burglary and identity theft in July, stemming form a Feb. 22 arrest at a Reno hotel. He was sentenced to five years probation and, according to the paper, was ordered to attend adult drug court.
He had since reportedly asked to be vacated of that obligation in order to attend this year's Emmy Awards and continue medication for past gunshot wounds and cancer remission. It was during a revocation hearing held to modify the sentence that the drug test was administered, Deputy District Attorney John Helzer told the paper.
Thorson's attorney, David Houston, says the failed drug test could be attributed to his client's nasal surgery two days prior.
"I don't know what drugs were used during nasal surgery," Houston said, according to the paper. "More questions (need to be asked)."
Thorson claims to be the former lover of Liberace and wrote a book about their relationship that was made into an HBO movie earlier this year. Thorson was played by Matt Damon.
His next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11.
