School board to release reports to Claire Davis' family
LITTLETON, Colo. - The board of education for Littleton Public Schools has agreed to provide information to the family of Claire Davis about the 2013 Colorado school shooting that left her dead.
The Denver Post reports the board voted unanimously in favor of a proposal from Davis' family Thursday, agreeing to start arbitration proceedings to avoid a lawsuit.
Davis' parents asked the district to enter into a binding agreement to outline and allow full discovery of the events that led to the December 2013 shooting at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colo. The 17-year-old was killed by a classmate - Karl Pierson, who then killed himself.
In return for the agreement, the family promised not to sue the district, something they would be able to do if a bill before the legislature passes.
"This isn't about money, it never was for the Davises. What we want and what the Davises want is to make sure that no other family has to endure what they've gone through," said Davis family attorney Michael Roche, reports CBS Denver.
Pierson was suspended from school several months before the shooting because of anger issues. He made threats against his speech and debate coach but was allowed to return to school, according to the station.
