Sarah Palin's Barbaric Wolf-Slaughtering Policies

If you love wildlife (and I do) and you want to get really sick to your stomach (which I'm sure you do not), please watch this Defenders of Wildlife video about aerial hunting of wolves in Alaska.

The terribly inhumane practice is not only applauded by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin; she also offers bounties to wolf-slaughterers. Let me make it plain: Sarah Palin is a brilliant addition to the McCain ticket in many ways. But some of her extreme views make her unpalatable to the majority of mainstream Americans. And support for aerial hunting of this or any other species is one of those off-the-wall views.

From Salon.com:

In early 2007, Palin's administration approved an initiative to pay a $150 bounty to hunters who killed a wolf from an airplane in certain areas, hacked off the left foreleg, and brought in the appendage. Ruling that the Palin administration didn't have the authority to offer payments, a state judge quickly put a halt to them but not to the shooting of wolves from aircraft.

As the video explains, aerial slaughter is not a "clean kill" where the animal dies instantly. It is made, most often, to die in incredible pain and misery. This is not behavior worthy of someone who promises to lead government with a "servant's heart."
