Reynolds, 34, was voted People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive Wednesday, beating out "Mad Men" actor Jon Hamm and Kellan Lutz of "Twilight" for the top honor.
Previous winner George Clooney told People magazine he was pleased to hear the Canadian actor won while at a humanitarian awards dinner in New York on Wednesday, saying he was "very happy for him."
"I'm also happy that it's not Brad [Pitt]," he jokingly added.
Although Reynolds, who will next been seen in the superhero flick "Green Lantern" with actress Blake Lively, received praise from Clooney, he said he doesn't expect to receive the same treatment from his wife.
"Now it's going to be, 'Sexiest man, take out the garbage.' That does sound better," he said.
But now Reynolds can pull the same move on Johansson, who nabbed GQ magazine's Babe of the Year title on Monday.
As part of GQ's annual Men of the Year issue, Johansson, who hosted "Saturday Night Live" last weekend, graces the cover of the December issue in a form-fitting khaki T by Alexander Wang tank dress.
"At 26, she remains fresh-faced, curious, trying on new moods and outlets of expression as easily as she changes her hair color," the magazine says of the "Lost in Translation" star (who will turn 26 on Nov. 22).
