Robot spider will both amaze and creep you out
(CBS News) If you have a fear that robots might one day take over the world ala "Terminator 2" or "The Matrix" and suffer from a mild to severe case of arachnophobia... well, then you should probably click here or here instead to watch some adorable animal antics. With that out of the way now, I present in the video above your possible new robot spider overlord: the T8!
While the whole spider element personally makes me cringe a little, there is no denying just how amazing the technology appears to be. (We're living in the future, people!) The creepy-crawly, but also kinda cute and definitely cool demo was posted on YouTube by Robugtix who write:
T8 is a wirelessly controlled bio-inspired octopod robot made with high resolution 3D printed parts. It uses a total of 26 motors: 3 in each leg and 2 in the abdomen. It is powered by the Bigfoot Inverse Kinematics Engine which performs all of the necessary calculations for smoothly controlling the motions of the robot in real time. While we've featured many incredible robots inspired by nature, I can't say that many have been available commercially, so wonder if the T8 could become the next big holiday gift craze. (Followed most likely by some of the best pranks on parents come April 1st!) Either way, if you'd like to learn more about the T8 or other robots from Robugtix, you can visit their website by clicking here.
