Rob Lowe to play JFK in Nat Geo's "Killing Kennedy"
Rob Lowe is heading to Camelot.
Fresh off his eerie transformation in HBO's Liberace biopic "Behind the Candleabra,"the "Parks and Recreation" actor has now signed on to play President John F. Kennedy in an upcoming film for the National Geographic Channel.
"Once Upon a Time" actress Ginnifer Goodwin will co-star as first lady Jacqueline Kennedy in "Killing Kennedy," chronicling the events leading up to the assassinationof the country's 35th president. Michelle Trachtenberg has also joined the cast in her first Russian speaking role as Marina Oswald, the wife of alleged Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. The Hollywood Reporter was the first to break the casting news.
"Killing Kennedy" will be based off the 2012 best-selling book of the same name, co-authored by Fox News host Bill O'Reilly. The National Geographic Channel previously aired another movie based on a historical book by O'Reilly, "Killing Lincoln," which drew in record ratings for the cable network.
The upcoming two-hour historical drama will be produced Ridley Scott's production company, Scott Free Productions, which previously worked on "Killing Lincoln."
Lowe and the rest of the cast of "Killing Kennedy" cast are expected to begin filming in June, with shooting taking place in Richmond, Va.
