Rita Wilson moves from actress to editor

(CBS/AP) LOS ANGELES - Actress Rita Wilson is wearing a new hat these days, and the title that goes along with the figurative chapeau is editor.

The 54-year-old wife of actor Tom Hanks has been named editor-at-large of "Huff/Post 40,'' a new site the Huffington Post is launching in August for the baby boomer generation.

AOL Huffington Post Media Group President and Editor-in-Chief Arianna Huffington says Wilson will direct its vision and content. She says Wilson even came up with the name of the new site.

Wilson has acted in movies, on television and on Broadway. She has also written stories on style and health for O, The Oprah Magazine and Harper's Bazaar, where she has been a contributing editor since 2006.

Huffington says the passion and humor Wilson brings to her projects makes her the "perfect godmother" for the new site.

This is not the first time the half-Greek mother of two has played the role of godmother. She is credited with getting a movie deal for "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" after seeing Nia Vardalos perform her autobiographical one-woman show.
