Ride around NYC on the bottom of a skateboard
(CBS) - Photographer John Maready took a different angle while filming New York City. That angle was the bottom of his skateboard. Check out this exploration of the mean streets of NYC from a totally unique angle, and stay tuned until the end to see the board in action at a skate park.
The camera used in this was a Go Pro, which we've featured before when one was attached to a hula hoop. Unlike that video, the camera in this clip takes a beating. Actually, make that cameras. As Maready explains on his website:
the footage gopro cameras produce is fantastic and i've seen some crazy stuff filmed with a gopro, but i think i found it's achilles heel - my skateboard. the day i bought the camera, i strapped it on my board and skated for 2 hours before the camera was completely dead. wouldn't even turn on. i sent it back and got a new one, determined that i started out with a bad copy, and slapped it on my board. about an hour into my ride, the little guy started spittin blood.
Despite the technical difficulties, I think we can all agree it was totally worth it.
