Retirement: New Ideas For An Old Topic

This was a great episode of "Ask The Experts". Clearly the concept of retirement has changed since the Great Recession, but our guest, Ken Dychtwald from Age Wave, contends that the nation's demographic shift was already changing our "golden years."

We cover second careers, living arrangements, long-term care insurance and how to broach difficult financial topics with your family.

Recent research from Sun Life Financial, as cited in the NYT Bucks blog, confirms Ken's position--"the traditional view of retirement, stopping work when government benefits become available, is changing." To track those changes, Sun Life created the "Unretirement Index," which is defined as "working at least 20 hours per week after the age when one is eligible to receive Social Security benefits."
