Report: Retaliation sparked Brooklyn McDonald's brawl
BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Prosecutors say a 16-year-old girl brutally beat another teenage girl inside a Brooklyn McDonald's in retaliation for wronging her friend in January, reports CBS New York.
The incident, in which a group of teenagers punched and kicked the victim repeatedly for more than three minutes, was caught on video.
Suspect Aniah Ferguson was arraigned as an adult on robbery, gang assault and other charges, reports the station. A judge set bail at $500,000.
Bystanders can be seen in the video watching and recording the fight Monday afternoon on their cell phones, but police said none called for help, though workers at the restaurant called 911.
The girls involved all attend nearby Erasmus Hall High School, CBS New York reports.
The target of the violence, a 15-year-old girl, eventually fell to the floor and curled up beneath a table, but her assailants continued to kick and punch her.
Investigators said Ferguson was the instigator, allegedly stomping on the victim's head and punching her, reports the station. Prosecutors said Ferguson is a gang member and admitted to beating up the victim, stealing her belongings and throwing them in the trash, reports the station. Police told the station she had a history of arrests.
Police are using the video to identify give other girls allegedly involved in the fight. More arrests may be pending.
