Rep Says Hoff's Daughter Not Suicidal

A rep for David Hasselhoff says that the actor's daughter did not attempt suicide, as reported by TMZ, but instead suffered "a severe scratch on her forearm" while playing with her cat.

The celebrity news Web site reported Monday that one of David Hasselhoff's teenage daughters tried to commit suicide Sunday night, according to law enforcement sources.

"Upon boarding an overnight flight for overseas last night, Mr. Hasselhoff received a call from his oldest daughter alerting him that his younger daughter had been playing with the dog and cat at (her) mother's home in the San Fernando Valley," Hasselhoff's rep Judy Katz said in a statement given to The ShowBuzz on Monday. "The cat gave her a severe scratch on her forearm and she was bleeding. Mr. Hasselhoff did what any responsible parent would do, he called 911 to report the incident and asked if they would send someone to check up on his child."

Katz said that Hasselhoff spent the afternoon with his daughters prior to leaving town on business. He was on his way to London and Spain to promote the film "Click," starring Adam Sandler.

A source close to the actor says Hasselhoff's daughter, Hayley, is fine and back at home.

"The kid panicked," a source close to the star told The ShowBuzz. "They took her to the hospital and they released her in literally five minutes."

According to TMZ, law enforcement sources said that the actor and "America's Got Talent" judge called 911 from his home Sunday, saying his 14-year-old had "cut herself."

Hasselhoff has two daughters with his estranged wife, Pamela Bach: Taylor-Ann, 16, and Hayley, 14. Hasselhoff filed for divorce after 16 years of marriage in January. In May, he and Bach reached a joint custody agreement.

Earlier this year, Bach requested a restraining order against Hasselhoff, citing domestic violence. The actor addressed the messy split in a recent People magazine story.

"I was very much in love with my wife," he said. "I know Pamela knows what the issues were. But it got to the point where it just wasn't working." She responded by saying, "Obviously he's still in denial, but I loved him with everything I had and always will, as he's the father of our children."

Hasselhoff told the magazine that he and Bach were trying to make the split as easy as possible on their daughters. "We were good parents … I just want to make it easy for them. I'm trying to implement a plan where the kids stay in the house and we switch. One week I'm at the house, the next week I'm at a hotel. We're trying to work it out," he told People.

The former "Knight Rider" star has been in the news in recent months for incidents in London. He accidentally cut a tendon in his arm in a bizarre shaving accident at a gym there and a British tabloid said he was turned away from a flight departing for Los Angeles because he was drunk. Hasselhoff told People that the incident had nothing to do with alcohol but rather a new painkiller made him sick.
