Recipe: Big Tex Steak Sauce
(CBS News) The Big Texan Steak House in Amarillo, Texas, offers its customers a free steak - free, that is, if they can eat the 72-ounce sirloin (along with a baked potato, roll, 3 shrimp and salad) within 60 minutes!
No doubt helping the determined diners along is the restaurant's steak sauce, a recipe for which has been provided by the Big Texan Steak House's "R&D Department."
Big Tex Steak Sauce (a.k.a. Big Texan "Juice")
Ingredients:
2 cups Worcestershire sauce
1 cup soy sauce
1 1/2 cups beef base
1 Tbsp. black pepper
1 Tbsp. garlic powder
2 oz. caramel color
Instructions
Place all ingredients into a mixing bowl and whisk together.
Portion into quart containers.
Cover, label and time-date, initial and store in cooler until needed.
Yield: 36 oz.
Shelf life: 72 hours
