Rapper Cassidy arrested, suspect in Phila. murder, say cops
(CBS) - Philadelphia rapper Cassidy was reportedly arrested this weekend in New Jersey for a probation violation and is a suspect in a murder, say authorities.
The artist, whose real name is Barry Reese, was taken into custody Saturday on a "high-risk" warrant by Hackensack, N.J. police, according to local news site NorthJersey.com.
Although the warrant was issued for violating probation, Cassidy is a suspect in one murder and two attempted murders in Philadelphia, reports the site.
According to Hackensack police Lt. Timothy Lloyd, Reese "was very surprised" when police arrested him, reports the site.
The rapper was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in a 2006 shooting case and sentenced to 11 and a half to 23 months in jail.
