(CBS) - Hip-hop artist Brisco surrendered to the North Miami Police Department Monday to face a charge of aggravated battery in the beating of an 18-year-old business partner that sent him to hospital, according to reports.

Police say the 29-year-old rapper, whose real name is British Alexander Mitchell, assaulted Giovanni Nagy on June 30 at his home after an argument.

"The rapper began to pummel him, to beat him, strike him, punch him, knocking him unconscious and sending him to the hospital," North Miami police Maj. Neal Cuevas told the Sun Sentinel.

According to the paper, Brisco is being held in a Miami-Dade County jail.
