Randy Quaid to sing about star whackers

(CBS) Randy Quaid's relationship with the star whackers who he says are out to get him has taken a new turn: He'll perform a song called "Star Whackers" in Vancouver Friday night with the band The Town Pants.

A little background: on "The Early Show" in November 2010, Quaid explained his fear of "star whackers" who he says decimated his finances and co-opted his corporations without his knowledge.

When asked, "Are they now trying to kill you?" Quaid answered, "Well, yes. Not in a sense where they're going to come over and shoot me with a gun or anything like that."

He said star whacking is not necessarily killing but creating a scandal to discredit a famous person. He said he thought maybe Heath Ledger could have taken tainted drugs that killed him. He said also he thought the star whackers killed David Carradine. "I can't believe David would commit suicide," he said.

Serious accusations. And how does one deal with serious accusations? By performing a song called "Star Whackers."

Quaid was granted permanent residency in Canada - he and his wife Evi fled there to escape the star whackers - and this gig is his first since he's been given that status, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The Town Pants' lead singer says it was Quaid's idea to sing "Star Whackers" when the band asked him which songs he'd like to do.
