Queen and Adam Lambert to tour this summer
Queen will hit the road this summer with Adam Lambert.
The "American Idol" alum will serve as frontman for the band known for such classics as "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Another One Bites the Dust."
The 19-date tour gets under way June 19 in Chicago before winding down July 20 in Washington, D.C.
Lambert and original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor have become well-acquainted over the years.
Lambert took the stage with Queen in 2009 as a contestant on "American Idol" and has fronted the band at various gigs since then. They performed at the 2011 MTV Europe Music and did a batch of shows in Europe the following year.
"I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon," Lambert said Thursday. "The thought of sharing the stage for a full set in North America is so beautifully surreal."
Lambert said he's honored to be able to pay his respects to late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991. "He's a personal hero of mine, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know this tour will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band, I feel like magic will be on display," said Lambert.
