Push to solve murder of Baltimore mother and son, 7

BALTIMORE -- Baltimore police are still hoping to solve the murders of a mother and her seven-year-old son, killed May 28 during Baltimore's deadliest month in decades, reports CBS Baltimore.

Jennifer Jeffrey-Browne, 31, and her son, Kester, were found shot in the head in their home. In a new push, police are going door to door in their Baltimore neighborhood, hoping to find more information.

But witnesses aren't coming forward, reports the station.

"People ain't talking. I don't know. I know somebody had to see this, had to see something," said neighbor Moses Thorpe.

Nearly a month after the killings, there've been no arrests, and police say there are no suspects and few leads, the station reports.

Forty-three people were murdered in Baltimore in May alone, the deadliest month since 1972, reports the station. The cases have overwhelmed homicide detectives.

So far, CBS Baltimore reports, there have been 139 homicides in the city this year - 46 more than at the same point last year.
