"Private Practice" actress Audra McDonald is engaged

(CBS) Actress Audra McDonald is engaged to Broadway star Will Swenson, according to reports.

"Thanks 4 all of the sweet congrats on our engagement," McDonald tweeted. "We're super happy and excited."

The two met in 2007 when they costarred in the Broadway revival of "110 in the Shade," but they didn't start dating until they did a two-week run of the show in 2010 for charity, according to E! News.

McDonald divorced her husband, bassist Peter Donovan, in 2009 after nine years of marriage. They have a 10-year-old daughter Zoe Madeline. Sweson has two sons, Bridger and Sawyer, with his ex-wife, Amy Westerby, according to MSNBC.

McDonald stars in the ABC drama "Private Practice." The four-time Tony Award-winning actress also stars in Broadway's "Porgy and Bess."

Swenson currently plays Tick in "Priscilla Queen of the Desert: The Musical."
