(CBS) "American Idol" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe thinks President Barack Obama has what it takes to sing on the "Idol" stage, after hisvery brief rendition of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" during his speech last month at Harlem's Apollo Theater.

"@BarackObama we loved your vocal performance so much we'd love to invite you on to #AmericanIdol this Season for a duet with Al Green," Lythgoe tweeted.

Lythgoe wasn't the only person who thought the president's rendition was on point. Green told TMZ that Mr. Obama's snippet of his song was "terrific" and that "he nailed it."

Now the question is, will the president agree to Lythgoe's request?
