Police: Woman pepper-sprayed customers, workers at drive-thru

ONTARIO, Calif. -- Police are on the hunt for a woman they say pepper sprayed customers and employees inside a California fast-food restaurant, reports CBS Los Angeles.

Police say the drive-thru customer stormed into the Del Taco restaurant Monday, because she had a complaint about the burrito she was served. Investigators have not said what, if anything, was wrong with the wrap.

Customer Rose Keith told CBS Los Angeles that at first the suspect threw a basket of condiment packets at employees.

"She threw it at them. She was upset. The manager came out and said, 'You can't be doing that. You need to leave.' The lady had a pen and she threw at (the manager)," Keith said.

The suspect then allegedly released the pepper spray, getting it on customers and employees, said Keith

"It was horrifying. It was terrible," she said. "She sprayed my face and I turned around and I couldn't see afterwards."

Keith said her eyes were still irritated hours after the attack.

Del Taco is working with police and would not release any surveillance video.

Police, who said they are treating the incident as an assault, have the license plate number of the vehicle the suspect used in the drive-thru.

An arrest had not yet been made.
