Police: Suspect sought in violent rape at Manhattan bar

NEW YORK -- Police are looking for a male suspect who was seen on surveillance video following a violent rape in a Manhattan bar, according to CBS New York.

On Monday, police released surveillance video of the suspect in the rape of a 23-year-old woman in the women's restroom at a Flatiron District bar 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. The suspect had allegedly followed the woman as she entered a bathroom stall at the Turnmill Bar, police told reporters.

According to police, the woman had been in the ladies' room, and when she opened the door to a stall, the suspect was waiting for her. He then allegedly pushed her back into the stall, grabbed her by the throat, and then proceeded to rape her.

The suspect ran off and the victim was rushed to a hospital, reported CBS New York.

The suspect was described as being between 45 and 55 years old, 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 150 to 175 pounds, with brown hair, according to the station. He was seen wearing blue jeans, a black shirt and black-framed glasses, police say.
