Police seek volunteers to get drunk...and they'll pay for it, too

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Police in Delaware County, Pennsylvania want you to know the drinks are on them -- that is, if you're willing to drink under close police supervision.

The Newtown Township Police Department needs volunteers to consume alcoholic beverages, so the department can then practice administering field sobriety tests, CBS Philly reported.

It's part of a program for officers looking to get certified to use various techniques in enforcing the state's DUI laws.

They need 20 volunteers, according to the station.

On the department's Facebook page, it says "upon reaching various levels of intoxication, the volunteers will be asked to perform 3 field sobriety coordination tests which officers will administer."

Participants may not be over the age of 55, and cannot be 45 pounds or more overweight, or taking any medication that reacts negatively with alcohol.

The department says consumption of alcohol will be monitored and food, including pizza, and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.

If this sounds like a job for you, CBS Philly says you can email vandegriftj@newtowntownship.org or call 610-356-0602 voice mail #135.

Let us know how it goes.
