Fake gun good enough to thwart Pitts-burglar, police say
PITTSBURGH - A man has been jailed on burglary and related charges after Pittsburgh police say he entered a home uninvited, and was subdued by a resident wielding a fake gun.
The resident told police he was wearing headphones while playing video games about noon Sunday and didn't hear 23-year-old Kymarr Freeman enter the home. When the resident saw and questioned Freeman, he allegedly said he was looking for someone else.
Not believing Freeman's explanation, the man held Freeman at bay with what police are describing only as a "prop" handgun until officers arrived.
Officers say Freeman, of Pittsburgh, was carrying an empty backpack, and was charged with criminal trespass and possessing an instrument of crime. Court records show he's got an extensive record of theft and assault arrests.
