Police: Florida man charged in girlfriend's death
FT LAUDERDALE -- Police have arrested a man in the murder of his girlfriend found dead in August, according to CBS Miami.
Enrique Macotela, 43, was taken in custody Tuesday night and charged in the death of his girlfriend, Magdalena Welch. Her body was found on Aug. 20 after being reported missing by Macotela two days earlier, according to the station.
Macotela told police she had gone to a bookstore, but never returned home, reports CBS Miami.
Welch's body was later found in a wooded area along Sample Road.
Police say surveillance footage from businesses in the area show Macotela's car pulling off to the side of the road in the early morning hours of Aug. 19. The spot was reportedly 50 feet away from where his girlfriend's body would be discovered.
Although the medical examiner has not officially listed a cause of death for Welch, police believe they have probable cause to charge Macotela.
