Police: Boy Scout shot dead with gun he brought from home
Authorities believe that the 12-year-old boy who died of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound at a Boy Scout camp in San Diego Monday brought the unregistered weapon with him from his home in Las Vegas, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The boy was found in his tent on June 30 with a gunshot wound to the torso. According to the newspaper, an autopsy was performed on the boy's body Tuesday, but the San Diego Medical Examiner's office has not said whether the death was accidental or suicide.
The boy was part of a group of 20 Boy Scouts attending camp at the Fiesta Island Youth Aquatic Center in Mission Bay. His father was a chaperone.
