Cops: Arrest made in murder of Oklahoma restaurant owner
TULSA, Okla. -- Tulsa police say a jail inmate has been charged in connection with the August stabbing death of the owner of a small restaurant on the city's west side.
Police say James Coulson was opening his Ted's Hamburgers restaurant in west Tulsa in August when he was stabbed to death. The body was later found inside the burger joint by employees arriving for work on Aug. 7, according to CBS affiliate KOTV.
On Wednesday, police said they had found enough evidence to question Alcon Sanders, 32, about the murder, according to the station.
Sgt. Dave Walker says Sanders was jailed on unrelated charges when he was linked to the death of Coulson.
Sanders is now charged with first-degree murder. Court records do not list an attorney for him.
Walker says investigators believe Sanders did not act alone in Coulson's stabbing, but said there is not enough information to identify other suspects.
The Oklahoma Department of Corrections' website states an Alcon Sanders with the same date of birth provided by police had served time for drug and firearm convictions and was released in 2013, according to KOTV.
According to the station, police believe that the motive in the murder was robbery.
