Police: Arkansas teen faces murder charge in uncle's death

FORREST CITY, Ark. -- Police say an Arkansas teenager has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder in the death of his uncle.

Television station KAIT reports that the name of the 16-year-old boy has yet to be released. He also faces another charge of possession of a firearm by a minor.

The Forrest City Police Department in east-central Arkansas says Martesz Childers was found Monday with apparent gunshot wounds following an argument over the teenager stealing money from Childers. Childers was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Authorities say officers arrested the boy at his father's home after a foot chase. Police found the weapon allegedly used in the incident in the suspect's father's home, and took the boy into custody without incident, reports CBS affiliate WREG.

"It is tragic that a family has to endure a loss especially by the hands of another loved one," Forrest City Police Chief Deon Lee said, according to the station. "The family has our deepest condolences during this most difficult time."
