"Planted" evidence in theft of flowers, grasses in Wichita Falls, Texas

(CBS/AP) WICHITA FALLS, Texas - If you're inclined to suspect the police of planting evidence, then this is the case for you.

Police in Wichita Falls say someone has been digging up and stealing ornamental grasses and flowers from the city.

Police in the North Texas city said Wednesday that more than 40 plant beds have recently been dug up, at a cost of more than $7,500.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating whoever has been swiping the decorative plants.

A conviction could bring up to two years in state jail and a fine of up to $10,000.
