Pixar gives first look at new film "Brave"
(CBS) If you weren't planning on watching Pixar's "Cars 2" this weekend, this might be a reason you should.
The studio is offering audiences right before the film the first teaser trailer of "Brave," its upcoming 13th animated feature.
And if the just-released poster is any indication, the movie, Pixar's first fairy tale fantasy, will have a more darker and mysterious feel than its predecessors.
Set against a backdrop of the Scottish Highlands, "Brave," the studio says, follows Merida, a princess and skilled archer who "confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts to discover the true meaning of courage."
"Not to frighten off our Pixar fans - we'll still have all the comedy and the great characters," director Mark Andrews tells Entertainment Weekly. "But we get a little bit more intense here."
"Brave" features the voices Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson and Robbie Coltrane. It is due in theaters June 22, 2012.
