Phoenix man stole ambulance outside firehouse, say police
(CBS/AP) PHOENIX - Look up "pothead" in your dictionary of choice - you just might find a picture of Travis Ward.
Phoenix police say the 28-year-old man tried to steal an ambulance that was left running outside a house firehouse, later saying he'd been smoking marijuana before the misadventure.
Ward didn't get very far.
Police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson says early Sunday Ward took the ambulance, which was unlocked and had the keys in the ignition, left running to keep it cool for anyone seeking medical care.
Thompson says Ward drove the ambulance a few blocks, then hit a post...a fence...and parked cars.
There were no injuries were reported.
Ward was booked on suspicion of theft and criminal damage, and may be enshrined under "pothead" in your favorite dictionary.
