Phila. man, 21, gunned down over Dr. Dre headphones

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police have been searching for whoever gunned down a man over a new pair of $300 headphones.

Police tell NBC affiliate WCAU-TV that 21-year-old Christian Massey was chased down while children played on a sidewalk nearby on Saturday afternoon. The kids tell police the gunman was chasing Massey because he wanted the Dr. Dre Beats headphones that Massey bought for $300 on Black Friday.

Massey did not comply with the suspect and tried to run, witnesses reportedly tell WCAU-TV.

Police say the suspect fired five shots, killing Massey — then left the headphones at the scene before running away.

Massey's grandmother, Eula Hodge, doesn't understand the crime saying, "Why did they have to shoot him? They didn't get what they shot him for, so he was shot for nothing."
