Phil Collins: "I'm no longer officially retired"
Phil Collins is ready to get back in the game.
The 64-year-old singer is coming out of retirement, telling Rolling Stone, "I'm no longer officially retired. The horse is out of the stable and I'm raring to go."
Collins has kept a low-profile in recent years. His last studio album of new material surfaced in 2002, and although he released a Motown covers album in 2010 called "Going Back," he hasn't performed live aside from a brief Genesis reunion outing.
But he's ready now, telling the magazine: "My kids are now 10 and 14 and they want to see what their dad does. They love my music and I'd like to take them out so they can enjoy it."
Fans can expect a new studio album and a tour to follow, he says.
Collins, whose hits include "In the Air Tonight" and "Against All Odds," opened up in 2011 about retiring from music, telling the U.K.'s Telegraph, "I look at the MTV Music Awards and I think: 'I can't be in the same business as this.' I don't really belong to that world and I don't think anyone's going to miss me. I'm much happier just to write myself out of the script entirely."
