Pfeiffer Fires Off Two Evil Roles

After a five-year hiatus from films, Michelle Pfeiffer returns to the big screen more evil than ever.

Pfeiffer talked about her two villainous roles in "Hairspray" and "Stardust" on Thursday's The Early Show.

In the fairytale "Stardust," Pfeiffer plays the wicked witch, Larnia, who is searching for eternal youth. To get into costume to play Larnia, who was supposed to look thousands of years old, Pfeiffer said it could take up to four and a half to five hours.

Despite her character's evil nature in "Stardust," Pfeiffer's antagonistic role in "Hairspray" made her "stop and think." While she has played killers in the past, Pfeiffer's character in "Hairspray," is a racist, a role she had never played before.

Pfeiffer also sings in "Hairspray," which is the first time she has done so on camera since "The Fabulous Baker Boys," which was released in 1989.

Pfeiffer is glad to be working again after her long break. She said she didn't plan to be away from acting for this long. "Time just flew by," she said. "And then it just got to be ridiculous."
