Pennsylvania man's skydiving death in Ohio investigated

NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - Officials are investigating the death of a Pennsylvania man who died in a skydiving accident in northeast Ohio.

Owners of Skydive Rick's in Springfield Township say the 65-year-old man's legs became tangled in the lines of his main parachute after exiting the plane for a jump Sunday afternoon. They say the man was able to open his reserve parachute but still hit the ground too hard because he was spinning.

Skydive Rick's co-owner Kay Kuhns says the Butler County, Pennsylvania, man had past parachuting experience with the military.

"This was on his bucket list. He wanted to do it one more time by himself," Kuhns told CBS affiliate WKBN in Youngstown.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he died. His name wasn't immediately released.

The Mahoning County Coroner is investigating.

Skydive Rick's has never had a fatality.
