Passage: SkyMall is grounded
It happened this past week . . . the grounding of the Skymall in-flight catalog.
For some 25 years now, Skymall offered air travelers -- possibly giddy from the altitude -- the chance to buy items they might think twice about if they were still back on Earth.
Consider the life-size Garden Yeti statue, weighing in at 147 pounds, at a price of more than $2,250.
... Not to mention the Pup Step "Plus" Pet Stairs -- for a somewhat more affordable $39.99.
An Art Deco Peacock Floor Lamp for $449.
And, the "Singing Gondolier," for the backyard pool owner who truly has everything.
Sadly enough for the gondolier and his friends, Skymall's parent company filed for bankruptcy on Thursday, citing increased competition from all those on-board electronic devices.
Still, all is not lost. Many of the items SkyMall sold at its height are STILL available on the Internet.
