Paris Hilton's knife-wielding intruder sentenced to two years in prison
(CBS/AP) LOS ANGELES - The man convicted of attempting to burglarize Paris Hilton's Los Angeles home while wielding a knife was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison.
32-year-old Nathan Lee Parada was convicted in April of felony attempted residential burglary for trying to break into Hilton's house last year.
During the trial, Hilton testified that she was awoken early on Aug. 24, 2010 by the sound of Parada banging on her window with a knife.
Parada reportedly told police he planned to steal as much as he could carry and move to a deserted island.
The would-be burglar was thwarted by Hilton's then boyfriend Cy Waits, who stopped Parada before he managed to get inside, reports OK! Magazine.
Parada's attorney argued that his client had not taken his antidepressant medication for days before his arrest.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Kellogg recommended during Wednesday's hearing that Parada undergo mental health counseling in addition to his 2-year prison sentence.
