Orlando Bloom opens up about Miranda Kerr split

Orlando Bloom opens up about his split with Australian model Miranda Kerr in a new interview with Katie Couric, airing Friday on the TV host's self-titled talk show.

Married since 2010, the couple announced on Oct. 24 that they were parting ways. At the time, reps said they were "amicably separated for the past few months" and had "recently decided to formalize their separation."

Now the British actor is shedding some more light on the situation, making it clear that they both plan to be there for their 2-year-old son, Flynn.

"We love each other. We're a family. We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives. There's no question that for the sake of our son and everything else, we're going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn," Bloom tells Couric in the segment.

"Life sometimes doesn't work out exactly as we plan or hope for," the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor adds. "But we're adults, I'm 36 and now she's 30. We're professionals. We love and care about each other. Most of all, we love our son."

Bloom is currently starring in a Broadway rendition of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." He plays Romeo opposite actress Condola Rashad as Juliet.
