One Dead in Tennessee Plant Explosion

OAKLAND, Tenn. - Fire crews are on the scene of an explosion at a munitions plant that has killed one in the western Tennessee town of Oakland.

Witnesses reported hearing a series of explosions.

There are reports of explosions continuing and possibly one person is trapped and one firefighter has been hurt, reports CBS affiliate WREG.

People working near the plant say they hear bulletts flying and small explosions.

Jeremy Heidt, a spokesman for the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, said there also was a fire.

A large plume of smoke was billowing from the plant.

Oakland is about 30 miles northeast of Memphis.
