"Old Money": Police find decaying stash of cash in Pa. woods
(CBS/AP) CLARION, Pa. - State police are trying to find the owner of a large sum of "old money" - a stash of cash that was found in the woods in western Pennsylvania.
Trooper Gary Rex tells WPXI-TV he was walking from his barracks in Clarion and found the money in a tree stump, with some bills scattered on the ground.
Police have traced the serial numbers on the bills and there are no reports the money was stolen. Police aren't saying how much money is involved because they want whoever claims it to be able to provide that information.
The find was made in Highland Township, about 60 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
