Officials: Husband faked ransom note; wife found dead

RENOVO, Pa. -- A coroner says an autopsy has confirmed that a body found over the weekend is that of a missing central Pennsylvania woman whose husband was charged earlier with evidence-tampering and abuse of a corpse.

The Clinton County coroner's office said Monday that a forensic anthropologist in Windber determined Sunday that the body found in Noyes Township was that of 34-year-old Kelley Jo Snyder of Renovo, who's been missing since Easter Sunday.

Coroner Zachary Hanna said the cause and manner of death are pending results of toxicology tests. State police said no new charges have been filed.

Authorities allege that 34-year-old William Snyder acknowledged moving his wife's body from their home to the Halls Run area and fabricating an email and a note seeking $60,000 for her safe return.

Acting on a tip, Pennsylvania state police arrested Snyder at a western New York motel Friday, reports the Star Gazette.

A county public defender didn't return a call seeking comment.
