Octomom Nadya Suleman's Octuplets Turn One

It's hard to believe, but it's been a year since Nadya Suleman gave birth to eight children who would go on to become the world's longest-living octuplets.

Suleman, better-known as Octomom, her preferred moniker, threw a party for them, with a big cake and a lot of messy babies in their La Habra, Calif. home, reports CBS News Correspondent Sandra Hughes.

"They all got their hands in (the cake) and made quite a mess!" Suleman attorney Jeff Czech says.

The six boys and two girls are "very healthy children," Czech says. "To my knowledge, there's no medical issues at all. Jonah has the cleft palate. He's not scheduled for surgery at this time, but that's not going to be any type of major surgery."

It's been quite a year for Suleman. After the octuplets were born, she survived a paparazzi storm after word came out that she had six other young children at home, and all were conceived in-vitro.

Now, she's a single, stay-at-home mom of 14 -- though she's hardly alone. She has round-the-clock help from friends, family and nannies helping her take care of her 14 children.

"That place is a buzz," Czech says. "There's constant cooking, constant cleaning, and if they're not cooking and cleaning, then there's a baby in the kitchen sink, and Nadya's giving one of the kids a bath. It's a swirl of activity."

He told the Whittier (Calif.) Daily News Suleman's financial outlook is shaky. "We're taking it year by year," the paper quotes him as saying. "She's fine right now, but I'm planning for the future," adding she's not on any type of public assistance, and doesn't plan to be.

Suleman continues to make headlines, most recently by appearing in a bikini on the cover of Star magazine after losing 150 pounds.
