Obama goes on Facebook to promote anti-bullying message
President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama posted a video on Facebook today to promote a conference on bullying the White House is hosting tomorrow.
At the White House Conference on Bullying Prevention tomorrow, Mr. and Mrs. Obama, as well as representatives from the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services, will engage students, parents and teachers in a conversation about policies and programs to prevent bullying.
Bullying an issue that "affects every single young person in our country," Mr. Obama said in the video. "More and more, we're seeing how harmful it can be for our kids, especially when it follows them from school to their phone to their computer screen."
The White House will stream live video of the conference at WhiteHouse.gov/live and offer online chats where visitors can discuss bullying with experts on the subject.
As part of the conference, Facebook is hosting a conversation about Internet safety and how to "promote a culture of shared responsibility and of strong digital citizenship," the company said in an e-mail. The conversation will air on several Facebook pages, including http://apps.facebook.com/whitehouselive.
