NYPD: Woman with scissors, bat fatally shot by police in the Bronx
NEW YORK — Police say a woman armed with scissors and a bat was shot and killed by officers in the Bronx Tuesday evening, CBS New York reported.
Police sources told CBS New York that 66-year-old woman was shot inside the Jaime Towers Housing apartment building at 6:30 Pugsley Ave. in the Castle Hills section of the Bronx around 7 p.m.
Sources said police were responding to the scene about a person acting erratic. When officers arrived, the woman had scissors in her hands.
At some point, according to sources, she dropped the scissors and charged at the officers with a bat.
She was shot once in the chest and once in the elbow.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
