"Nurse Jackie" renewed for sixth season
"Nurse Jackie" has been admitted for another season on Showtime.
The network announced Thursday that the critically-acclaimed dark comedy, starring Edie Falco as the titular emergency room nurse, has been renewed for a sixth season.
Showrunner Clyde Phillips ("Dexter"), who took over after Season 4, will also return.
"'Nurse Jackie' is an essential part of the Showtime brand, and we are thrilled with the series' growth in its fifth season," Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins said. "Under the new leadership of Clyde Phillips, and with an amazing cast led by Edie Falco, this show is as sharp and compelling and entertaining as ever. I'm excited to get to see the next chapter in Jackie's life."
The series is currently averaging 3.1 million viewers per week across multiple platforms -- up 10 percent from last year.
"Nurse Jackie" will wrap up its fifth season on June 16.
