RALEIGH, N.C. - A Raleigh man is accused in a fatal shooting that left his pregnant girlfriend dead, reports CBS affiliate WRAL.

Authorities say 25-year-old Kimberly Dianne Richardson, who was six-months pregnant, was shot and later died at a hospital. Her unborn child - a girl - survived, according to the station.

Richardson's boyfriend, 25-year-old Daniel Joseph Steele, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting. He was arrested at his Raleigh home shortly after it took place.

A manager at Zales jewelery store in the Triangle Town Center said Richardson worked there. Steele previously worked as a security guard at the mall. He resigned in October, according to the station.

Police on Sunday released a 911 call that Richardson made after the shooting. She is heard telling the dispatcher, "I've been shot," before giving her location and saying, "I can't talk."

When the dispatcher asked her what had happened, Richardson responded, "He shot me."
