Nick Carter dedicates tour to his sister Leslie
(CBS) The show will go on for Nick Carter, as he's not canceling his current tour. Instead the singer will dedicate the outing to his sister, Leslie Carter, who died Tuesday. She was 25.
In a Facebook message to fans, the Backstreet Boy thanked fans for their support, announcing his tour will go on "as promised."
"Performing is cathartic to me and I am dedicating the rest of my tour to my sister since she loved to watch me perform," explained Nick, who plans to perform his scheduled show Thursday night at New York's Irving Plaza.
Nick's brother, Aaron Carter, meanwhile, is expected to take some time off from his New York off-Broadway show "The Fantasticks," reports E!.
Leslie died in upstate New York. No further details about her death have surfaced. She leaves behind a husband and 10-month-old baby.
The Carter family confirmed the news in a statement issued to CBSNews.com on Wednesday: "Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter. We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time."
