NY podiatrist, girlfriend accused of plotting to kill wife
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A Rockland County, N.Y. podiatrist is accused of plotting with his girlfriend to kill his wife, reports CBS New York.
The doctor, 41-year-old Ira Bernstein, and his girlfriend Kelly Myzner Grideluk, 36, both face several counts of conspiracy and solicitation, according to the station. Police say the pair approached a man they thought they could hire as a hit man to kill Bernstein’s wife. Police tell the station they wanted the death to appear as though it were an accident.
Instead, however, the would-be hired man went to the police, who set up wiretaps and discovered the alleged plot. The case against Bernstein and Grideluk involves video, audiotapes, and wiretapped telephone conversations collected during a month-long investigation, as well as an exchange of money on several occasions, reports LoHud.com.
The Bernsteins have three children together and are going through a divorce, the website reports.
Bernstein and Grideluk are also accused of plotting to beat up two insurance agents who were investigating the doctor’s Ramapo podiatry practice, the station reports.
