New stained glass window features queen on horseback

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on horseback with a Corgi running at her side in a new stained glass window that commemorates her 2012 Diamond Jubilee.

Created by Edinburgh-born artist Douglas Hogg, the window was unveiled last week in the Chapel of the Savoy in London. It has the initials ER at its center, flanked by winged angels and figures representing honor and justice.

It is inscribed with the words: "I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service." The quote is from the then queen-to-be's radio speech to the nation in 1947 on her 21st birthday.

The artist has said the window's yellow and blue color scheme was inspired by the outfit she wore to the April 29, 2011, wedding of her grandson Prince William to Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

The queen, wearing a mint green coat and hat, and her husband, Prince Philip, attended the Nov. 1 unveiling of the window.

Britain has been commemorating the queen's 60 years on the throne all year, with the highlight being a 1,000-boat procession along the Thames and a star-studded concert at Buckingham Palace in June.
