N.J. teen charged with murder in father's fatal shooting

KINNELON, N.J. - A northern New Jersey man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his father.

Morris County prosecutors say 18-year-old Travis Hofstetter also faces two weapons charges in the slaying of 57-year-old James Hofstetter, whose body was found Sunday afternoon in the family's home on Wedgewood Drive in Kinnelon. He had been shot multiple times, police say, according to NJ.com.

A possible motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

Prosecutors say police found the elder Hofstetter when they responded to reports of a medical emergency at the residence. Travis Hofstetter was arrested a short time later in nearby Hardyston Township.

Hofstetter's bail was set at $750,000 cash, and it wasn't known Monday if he has retained an attorney.
